Getting ready for Jr. Prom 1980

Who are these young ladies?
Carol and Natalie (and Sara, I think) made loads of foil decorations for our
"Stairway to Heaven" prom theme!
What a LOT of work...and who said they were cheesy?
Check out those HUGE glasses!
At the Gainesville Women's Club (without airconditioning)
Karen Pfaff, ?, Sheryl Katz, Sara Sandeen and Carol help
decorate for the big night ahead!
Isn't that staircase wonderful? WHO got that thing?
Carol, Sara, Karen pose for Carol's dad
...background Laura Moberly and John Waitcus do some more work.
FUNDRAISING....donuts, car washes, candy bar sales....what else?
We did a LOT!
Who else helped with the decorating?
Endless hours planning and preparing?
Renting stuff....(stairway, disco ball, what else?)
Selecting a band.... (Susan Johnson, I recall was part of that committee)

Anyone brave enough to send in their prom photo to post?!
Come on now!!

HELP WANTED

Help Wanted....
Do you have the Senior Yearbook?
Do you have a decent scanner?
Do you have some time?

There have been a few requests from our dear classmates to post our senior year photos on this blog so that we can remember each other as we come into contact again. After all, it has been a number of years since most of us have seen one another!
If you are willing to scan the pages of the IMAGE yearbook (the purple one, can't miss it) and email them to Carol (carol.doughty@telia.com) she'll do the rest! Scanning the names WITH the photos would be extremely helpful as well! (I do not have a yearbook with me over here so this would be a GREAT FAVOR!) Many of our friends would REALLY appreciate it!
Thanks for your visit on the GHS Class of 1981 blog!
It's been wonderful hearing from so many people
and getting such HURRICANE PRIDE support!
Shelley Russell flips through pages of MEMORIES in our year book in 2001!

<>Thanks Carol,
The blog looks great. I would love to help with any organizing of a reunion. Thanks for everything you've done to get so many people in touch. It is so cool seeing all the "old folks" from school. Keep up the great work. <>

Hey Carol,
<>Good for you, getting things rolling!!! I was kind of bummed that we didn't do a "25" reunion, but I just couldn't be the go to person. It's even more impressive that you've stepped up from across the water. You Rock! <>
Talk to you soon... Big Hello to Sara and Natalie.

Hey Carol-
<>Obviously I had good intentions of keeping my health-update blog updated, but stayed so busy in Baltimore that I let it slip. I am back and done with radiation treatment and all went well. I had very minor fatigue--more inconvenience than anything. However, that was MINOR for the best treatment you can get. Of course, I need to update it and change the subject toward brighter things! I have a lot on my plate right now, but I have added your GHS blog to my favorites and plan to keep up. I'll try to add something with a photo or 2 soon. I am glad you are well and thanks again for doing this!
Peace--Doug (Fields)
P.S.--I'll get on Tosi and Steve Perry!

Thank you for the kind words!
We enjoy doing this as much as many of you enjoy reading it!
It's sort of like a newspaper for our class...but new stories are always needed so if you have one to share...please do! And pass the address to anyone you know from our class...the more the merrier our reunion (virtual and real) will be!

Thanks for checking in....

Thanks for checking in to this GHS Class of '81 blog!

I have nothing new to report about the reunion other than I was able to get this blog address attached to the "real" GHS School website in their "Alumni" section. It's only an information blip about reunion contacts. There is some other website for a general GHS Alumni but it looked more like a commercial site for one of the classes to earn money for their reunion. It's not ours.
I don't know why the guy at GHS put it in our Class of 1981 section because it's deceiving. Check it out and see if you figure it out. Write me a note if you think I should ask him to take it off "our" section on the Alumni page of the GHS School website. I'm not sure how many people check in there.

Bill Bush sent me a data base from the last reunion to help Tina Montalbano, Natalie Broadhurst and me start locating more of our large class. Your help in passing along this address would be appreciated! I know it seems early but we only have 2.5 years to find a LOT of people! Don't know if you've noticed but on the side bar to the left of this area I'm keeping a list of people who I (Carol) have made some sort of contact with...if you're reading this and not on the list, PLEASE email me or Natalie or Tina! Just so we have an updated addy for you!

I'm out of photos to post for the moment...a few people have promised to email me some but I'm still waiting! (And you know who you are!) LOL
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SENT ME PHOTOS FOR THIS VIRTUAL REUNION SO FAR!
GETTING LOTS OF GOOD FEEDBACK!
A friend of mine here in Sweden is loaning me a scanner....so perhaps I can dig up some more photos from my own collection to share. In the meantime, if you have any you are willing to share for me to post, PLEASE email them to me! We'd all appreciate it!
